Hi Carol, I have been researching raw food diets for about a month now, and I still am confused. I have been doing every diet in the world except raw for about 25 years. I am over 200 lbs and originally as a young adult weighed 128 lbsn after my first born(prior to that I was 110 lbs and I was too skinny at 5’6″). Anyway after having 5 children by the age of 34 I could not get the weight off even with medical help over the past 25 years!!! (well, that is not quite true, I got down to 145 after my third child and got pregnant again right away and had my two girls back to back within 2 1/2 years). I have been working with a Biomedical Hormone therapy physician in LA for the past 2 years hoping that this was part of my problem and I only got worse. I took myself off all hormones this past April and I can only tell you that this past year has been a roller coaster with the gain of 30 lbs in two weeks to only loose it in two weeks to then gain it back again! I know my body is screaming for attention and the doctor’s are puzzled and I am suffering in the process. I want to go raw and I believe this is going to be a big part of the answer for me, but I am afraid of how to do it and be healthy! I am really scared about doing it the wrong way. Every site has a different way of presenting the “raw food facts” and since I read that you had you hair analyzed for this I was wondering if you could manage the time to enlighten me on that process? I am 55 now. In 2007 I had a “mommy makeover” to remove the extra skin that was giving me hygiene issues (tummy tuck, breast augmentation to remove extra skin and give some life to my girls, and a several facial, neck and decollete) a surgery I would never recommend for a full time working mom. Now that my body has healed from this intense surgery, I am gaining the inches back and I don’t want to waste all of what I’ve gained by sacrificing my health and finances to get to this point. I am frustrated and depressed and I want to look on the outside the way I feel on the inside, young, beautiful and full of hope and energy. I am desperate for some relief and I am taking the risk that you would take the time to give me some support and advise on making the transition to raw. With great respect, Tina
Hi Tina,
This is a tall order for an answer on the website.
Anyway, i will try. First, congratulations on your beautiful babies! That is a major undertaking.
Anyway, I do recommend going to a doctor. And
maybe even one who knows raw food and can answer your specific questions as you get going.
My books may be in your library. This could teach you
some recipes and give you some idea what raw food is
and how to start. Once you know what raw is, it is easier to find it.
Switching over I found to be very easy: i just started to substitute in( i also asked my doctor for recommendations)
raw foods for the cooked i already liked.
Then i went online and ordered some raw foods i
did not know and had a taste testing.
i found that when i switched over to raw food, i felt so
much better that i wanted more so i asked my
doctor about cleanses. So i started to cleanse.
it was pretty easy after all the other diets i had been on.
I also supplemented with vitamins and minerals. that is
where the hair test came in. my Doctor did it so that
he knew what to prescribe me. I found i was never hungry
between the green powders, raw food and cleansing and then the supplements- well i felt like a new woman.
especially after all the starving i did and diets i did and yo-yoing to keep skinny to work as a model.
i hope this gives you a start?
if you have more questions, don’t hesitate.
wishing you the best,
CA

Hi Carol, looking to get your products at Shoppers Drug Mart. I have a question in relation to your anti-ageing line. I am 65 with very good skin and, naturally a few wrinkles. Should I start off with your “Refreshing Line” as I find a lot of the anti-ageing products to be extremely heavy and they do not do the job, especially with the cost of their products.
By the way, thank you for keeping the cost, so that people like myself can go out and buy the product.
Thank you and looking forward to your reply and to seeing your products at Shoppers.

Hi Marion,
Try the Refreshing line. If it does not do the job at
least you know you can graduate to the anti-aging.
I only use the anti-aging. So i highly recommend it.
But we may have different skin.
Anyway, the washes are the same for both line.
They are hydrating and easy on the skin. So for the washes it is easy to pick.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed either way.
let me know?
thanks,
CA
Just saw you on Marilyn Denis and you look amazing. I would like to try following the raw diet program that you use – what is a typical weekly meal plan for you as I have no idea how to try this without getting bored or becoming frustrated with not knowing what to make. I have a serious milk chocolate addiction – don’t like dark chocolate – is there a raw version that will satiate my craving or will following the raw diet help to eliminate this craving?
Yvonne,
Wow! lots of questions. Hope i can help. So, the library may have my books and that may help you start out.
Yeah, i know, there is enough info on raw food to
write a ton of books!
My second book actually does menus-129 recipes!
how can you get bored on that?
go online and type in raw food and check out what they have to offer.
CocoAlive has some amazing truffles. try them
out! Who knows? You may find something you like.
and yes, feeding my body well cut ALL cravings for
sugar and sugar products like wheat and wine.
I hope this helps?
Don’t hesitate if you have more questions.

I am eating raw and experiencing alot of gas and bloating. Primarily form flax seeds, I think. I tend to eliminate waste more frequently as well, I don’t think I am drinking enough water, possibly. But the gas is a major issue. I can find nothing in the books I have regarding this. I do take probiotics, should I take any extra enzymes? I am 41, I have had 2 children and have Hashimotos Thyroiditis. I take levothyroxine. I take a natural multivitamin daily. Thnaks for your input. I can’t find any other answers
Hi Cathy,
Not sure how much Flax seeds you are eating or if
that is the main cause. But, I always recommend digestive
enzymes to help digestive problems.
I also say that Beano may help you until you adjust.
I do not like to depend on commercial products like
that, but it may get you over this hump.
hope this helps,

I have been a fan of yours since your supermodel days! You are amazing, beautiful and such an inspiration. I would love it if you could answer a couple of questions for me. Firstly, I loved your Le Mirador Melting Scrub you sold years ago on QVC and have been on the hunt for it every since it was discontinued. Any idea where I may find this product today or the ingrediants from which it was made? I swear it was simply one of the best scrubs out there, smell, consistency, lather and left my face feeling perfect after each and every use! I would love to get my hands on some!
Secondly, how is it that you keep yourself in such great shape with gravity taking over once we get into our 40′s? I’m 46 and see the changes in my body – even my legs, arms, mid section, neck, etc. Things are falling! Skin is drying up and in the throws of perimenopause! I am not against doing a little nip/tuck/lift when the time is necessary, but am trying to maintain my youthful appearance naturally for as long as I possibly can. My weaknesses are chocolate and wine. How did you find the strength to abstain from these indulgences and follow such a clean and pure diet? I need the motivation to do so. I want to look great again and am so depressed by beginning to lose my looks and my mojo for that matter. My self confidence was fabulous about until about 43 or 44 now I’m feeling defeated and like I have no control of the process. I work at a desk all day long and have a long commute home – suffer from chronic insomnia for past 10 years so I’m very tired. I used to turn heads all day long, but feel that fading fast and it makes me feel horrible about myself and the aging process. I would LOVE your advice. I really need a source of credible inspiration to make the right changes for myself. I want the old me back so badly. You have always remained my favorite supermodel of all time. I admire your work, dedication, strength and attitude. I cannot believe you are 51. Absolutely shocking. You are such a beautiful role model, both inside and out. I would love to know your secrets as to how you have maitained yourself so beautifully.
Thank you beautiful Carol for your time! Pam Chase of Northern California anne5000@comcast.net

if i said it once, i said it a thousand times: raw food.
It is the easiest way to maintain, rejuvenate, and to
feel good about oneself.
It is everywhere. Go online and order raw food.
Try some. Try something new for that matter.
I have found that changing my food worked wonders
for me! (my books are probably in your local library)
Because i now feed my body so well, i do not need sugar(which is what wine and chocolate are) by the way?
there is raw chocolate which you won’t feel guilty
eating!
Keeping oneself fit is a harder job for women then it
is for men. Nature is a bit unfair in my view in this matter.
We HAVE to do the work; there is no easy way out.
Every woman feels those changes-you are not alone.
I feel them too-big time. But i stay on the raw food-
it has now become a habit and it is so easy and i am
never hungry to boot!
i also do a bit of Yoga! just started two years ago.
i find it helps my head as well as my body to have
some quiet time put aside for me.
and it does wonders for the body!
My skin? I stay on raw essentials. No hormones, no chemicals and i get great results. That is why i made
it.
I do not know what QVC does with Le Mirador.
But i do have a melting scrub based on the same
melting idea. Just that we smell like essential oils!
i am constantly putting cream on my skin-the older i
get the drier i feel so i do not feel guilty to use a chem
free line-nor do i feel guilty recommending it!
i know this may not be all that you want to hear. I wish
there was an easier way to stay young, it there is one
i’d love to know it! I do all the above religiously!
and i find it works for me……i hope it brings you some
relief, too!
wishing you the best,

i just tell women, use great skin care so that you

and i will work hard to make Raw Essentials successful
enough that i can launch the formulas i have for

Hi Seth,
Thank you for your email.
Two things:
1. I’m in Russia until next year. and since i send the
photos myself, i cannot do it now as i am out of
the office.
2. I would appreciate it if you would send your
request to:
Carol Alt
c/o Wilhelmena Models
300 P.A.S
NYC NY 10016
I am requesting this as I save this area to respond to
questions not request for pictures. Otherwise i would
not have time to answer everyone. And the other problem
is that I cannot save your request.
Sorry for an inconvenience,
Thank you,
CA
Finally able to get this to you! Fantastic. We’ve been in correspondence via Twitter, and I truly appreciate all your time. As a fellow model I understand how busy you are and how hectic things can be. Your effort to stay in touch with people is incredibly kind.
I purchased my Raw Essentials products a couple of weeks ago. As a raw-vegan I’ve been waiting for a product like this for quite some time! I’ve used vegan products for a while but Raw Essentials is the next level. The price point of these products is more than appropriate and the minimal packaging is admirable.
I love the way Raw Essentials smells so fresh and feels even better on the skin. As a model my skin has always been great and I’ve always taken good care of it but this just feels so much better. My only issue is the lid on the Refreshing Face Wash. The opening of the cap is too large for the viscosity of the product and too much comes out at once. Perhaps a smaller opening would be better for this.
Thank you again Carol for all of your hard work and for inspiring people to change their lives! I’m glad the days of the Neocitran/coffee/starvation diet are over thanks to raw foods. This can really transform lives!
Hi Caitlin!
Finally, I got your message! Thank you for your wonderful endorsement of our Raw Essentials product and RAW in general!
I will take into consideration your advice for the opening of the hole in the face wash package.
I think because we do the same package for the scrub (which has little round SOY balls in it) that we get a better price on the bulk packages- and then we translate this as better prices for our customer.
As you said in your note, we do have Great Prices!! That is of utmost importance to me-not as important as what is IN the package, of course! But I want everyone to have great skin at their finger tips!
Thank you for being a valuable customer and a wonderful twitter friend.
All the best for a Happy Holiday Season and a wonderful career.
Warm Hugs,
CA
Dear Carol:
A belated Merry Christmas to you, and a Happy New Year.
Earlier this year some others and I organised the Long Island Hospitality Ball, in which we raised $170 thousand for the American Cancer Society. The event featured free food from over 50 top restaurants from Long Island, and free drinks from all the best wine and liquor companies (Patron, Jack Daniels, Jameson, Absolut, Moet, Hypnotiq, Svedka and many others). There was live entertainment; including Kim Suozzi (who is from Long Island).
Next year’s ball is at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, on Monday, 18 June. If you are home on Long Island then and have a little spare time maybe you can come by and lend your support for a few hours as our guest? We are expecting well over 2000 attendees for next year’s ball, and are reaching out to celebrities from Long Islanders for their support.
Thank you for your time.
Hi Keith,
Thank you for your invite. If i am on Long Island, I would love to drop by. Please contact my manager when it gets closer? i do not want to forget…..
His address and telephone number are on this website.
All the best and keep up your good works!

I am absolutely IN LOVE with your Restorative Food Cream. Since having children, my heels keep cracking and it can be very sore. Your foot cream fixes them right up in a matter of days and no other product I have tried is even half as effective! That said, I am in Canada and can no longer find this product anywhere! The Shopping Channel is sold out with no restock date in sight, Shoppers Drug Mart doesn’t seem to carry this product, and your US website doesn’t ship to Canada. Can you help me? It isn’t exactly a matter of life and death, but it is the difference between my feet being soft and gorgeous, or painful and ugly…
Thank you for your email. I am so happy you love our products! All the products are just as effective.
I am going to forward your email to my partner.
I know that the quagmire of retail is difficult and we had to cut some of our products.
Then the problem with shipping to Canada is the customs you have to pay is expensive.
I do not have a ready answer. So that is why i am forwarding to my partner, Phil.
I hope he can help you out.
Much love,
CA

and i will work hard to make Raw Essentials successful
enough that i can launch the formulas i have for
toxin free makeup.
i know this is not very helpful now. but i have not
found a great makeup yet and would not want to
mislead you.

Hi Seth,
Thank you for your email.
Two things:
1. I’m in Russia until next year. and since i send the
photos myself, i cannot do it now as i am out of
the office.
2. I would appreciate it if you would send your
request to:
Carol Alt
c/o Wilhelmena Models
300 P.A.S
NYC NY 10016
I am requesting this as I save this area to respond to
questions not request for pictures. Otherwise i would
not have time to answer everyone. And the other problem
is that I cannot save your request.
Sorry for an inconvenience,
Thank you,
CA

Hey Carol
All the very best,
Caitlin

Best regards,
Keith Hart

Hi Jenny,
I am so glad you love our products!
I am have to say that i am in the same position as you are!! I love love love my shampoo-yet i cannot get it either.
We did the shampoo for the Shopping Channel in Canada.
We went retail in Shoppers Drug Mart this year only with the skin care line.
So I have the formulas, but we are not in production.
The next best shampoo that comes close is PHorever Young. By Dr Robert Young.
I hope this helps!
all the best,

Hi Carole,
I am absolutely IN LOVE with your Restorative Food Cream.
Much love,
Amy

Thank you for your email. I am so happy you love our products! All the products are just as effective.
I am going to forward your email to my partner.
I know that the quagmire of retail is difficult and we had to cut some of our products.
Then the problem with shipping to Canada is the customs you have to pay is expensive.
I do not have a ready answer. So that is why i am forwarding to my partner, Phil.
I hope he can help you out.
Much love,
CA
