Carol Alt is the ultimate pioneer and chameleon; constantly on the lookout for new ideas and new frontiers. Since her days as the world’s most renowned Supermodel, Carol Alt has gone on to be multi-award winning actress, best selling author on Raw Food Nutrition and Skin Care entrepreneur.
But that’s not all there is to this multi faceted super nova! I bet you didn’t even know that she had a number one hit in Europe in the music industry! She provides voiceovers for such hits as “King of the Hill”; and has hosted various TV and radio morning shows and newscasts, including Fox’s “Good Day Live,” GMA, Access Hollywood and E!TV to name a few.
Called “The Most Beautiful Woman in the World” by Playboy Magazine and “The Next Million Dollar Face” by Life Magazine, Carol has not disappointed. Her father lost track of her covers by 1983 when she hit 250 Magazine covers! But she has gone on to grace the covers of over 700 magazines and still counting.
Elite Models turned down the idea of doing Supermodel posters, videos and Calendars when Carol proposed it. She, therefore, went on without them to self produce 4 posters, two workout videos with Cosmopolitan Magazine and 6 calendars; She is a one-woman conglomerate! Since then her posters and calendars have became the benchmark for any and every rising, young supermodel. Carol created a new business for all supermodels to come and in the process, became the object of fantasy for every young boy in America who had her poster plastered on his bedroom wall.
At this point, even her agents have lost track of the number of advertising campaigns, commercials, interviews, hosting and endorsement contracts that have created this enormously successful and lasting career.
Forever touted as “The model that started the Supermodel trend” by John Casablanca, the owner of Elite Models, Carol laughs that title off as the result of necessity being the mother of invention: The necessity of a fourth Elite division of models who worked every day – who were career professionals – made Carol the first ever “Super Elite Model in the Super Elite Division.” The press therefore dubbed her the first “Supermodel.”
Hitting the highest echelons of the fashion industry at the tender age of 19 did nothing but fuel Carol’s thirst for new projects and new venues. So, making good use of her fame, she Chaired many charity events and lent her time and name to many worthwhile causes.
No other model can boast an uninterrupted 32 year career. Having twice graced the cover of the coveted Sports Illustrated Magazine’s Swimsuit Edition, Carol has gone on to star in over 50 movies, series, miniseries and episodic television in America, Canada and abroad.
Her highly acclaimed series “Amazon”, written by Peter Benchley (JAWS), debuted as Variety’s “Number One New Dramatic Syndicated Series”, much to the delight of CBS and Alliance Atlantis, and paved the way for today’s hit “Lost”.
Carol has also had great success for her role in “Howard Sterns Private Parts”. She is the recipient of Three European Telegattos (Emmy awards), one European “Oscar” Moda, The Mont Blanc Award, The Best Award, The Golden Ticket Box-Office Award (for the most box office sales for a film in one year), The Certificate del Arte from The European Film Commission and The Umbra Award. Prince Albert still holds a slight grudge that Carol did not come to the Monaco Film Festival to pick up her award for the portrayal of the life story of Rosanna Benzi, a woman with genetic polio living in an iron lung, in the film “Vice for Life.”
She also received the CFDA’s Model of the Year award and The Woman of the Year Award for her charitable endeavors.
Not content to “just act”, she re-wrote the medical aspects, co-produced, and directed the children in a series of 12 films about a female doctor with a practice in an African clinic called “Under the African Sun.”
Her independent American films include “Hitters”, which won the Westchester Film Festival, “The Look” which was the talk of The Tribeca Film Festival and “Signs of the Cross” which won The Catskills Film Festival. Her sci-fi hit, “Snakehead Terror”, based on a true story, is still scaring people on the Sci-Fi Channel where it became not only a hit, but now a cult film. Not to mention the Cult Fashion Film “Portfolio” produced by Universal Films! It’s every wanna-be Fashionista’s Bible!
Some of her other films include: “Fatal Trust” for Lifetime, “Totally Awesome” for VH1,”Homo Erectus”, an Adam Rifkin comedy starring Ali Larder, Tom Arnold and David Carradine, a new Sci-Fi Channel film called, “Swarmed” and “The Town that Banned Christmas”, an independent film which joined the roster of LionsGate Films for 2006.
She continued acting here and abroad with three new Italian films in 2007 and 2009.
She also went to the 8th round in the Italian version of dancing with the Stars in 2009!
Carol was also Donald’s pick for his first ever Celebrity Apprentice. The show and Carol did so well, that a new genre was born! Fans were so outraged that Carol, the winning-ist PM, was shut out from the finals by The Donald, that they would shout across restaurants their outrage! Carol helped Piers Morgan win. Piers said, “Without Carol’s support and help, i would not have won!”
In 2011 she just wrapped filming on Woody Allen’s new movie Starring Alec Baldwin and Penelope Cruise! The Virtual world was all a-twitter with the picture of Carol and Alec Baldwin kissing on the set as husband and wife.
As for her books, She was Best-selling author for her first book on raw food called Eating in the Raw, which came out in 2005 and is a perpetual best seller. Her second book: The Raw 50(menus) came out shortly thereafter, in 2007. Her third book, Easy Sexy Raw, is due Spring 2012! Since writing her first book, sales of raw food quadrupled! What an impact!
She also lectures on Health and Nutrition. Having lectured to 3000 Doctors at the Parker Seminars in Vegas and continuing to lecture to Doctors and laymen alike at Health Expo’s and Raw Food Expos.
She then followed up with a book series on Modeling called This Year’s Model and Model’s Inc. Both of which followed the antics of Melody Ann- a hapless young waitress who finds herself at the top of the modeling ladder. Carol’s books were touted by the modeling industry as the benchmark of modeling books and a must read for every young model and their mother who are thinking of modeling as a career. According to an industry insider, these books are the closest to being on the inside of the modeling industry one can get without actually being a model.
Continuing on her winning streak, Carol continued to keep up her work in film and movies and added formulating a highly effective skin care line, called Raw Essentials, to her every busy schedule. Continuing the raw theme, Carol made a mass line of raw, organic and most importantly, Chem-free skin care that has, as the independent company that shoots ‘before and afters’ of all skin care lines said: “The absolute best Before-and-After photos of any skin care line, organic, natural or otherwise, that they had ever seen!”
Carol launched this line at Duane Reade in NYC in 2010, and nationally at The Shoppers Mart in Canada 2011. But other exciting venues are in the works as a national American chain is courting Carol. Italy, Russia, Korea are also requesting the line and she just gave the line (by request) to the Prince of Saudi Arabia for his mom, the Queen. Will Saudi Arabia be far behind?
According to Carol, she made this line affordable because, “All women have the right to healthy skin and a healthy body-and also to great results! It should be affordable to all women, not just those on Park Ave.”
Was she worried about the snobs? “Not at all. When they see the results, they will all come running; and they should- great results in a healthy skin care line, I mean a REALLY healthy skin care line, are rare. Everyone should jump!”
This year she is launching her line of Jewelry, called True Harmony, at major retailers. The line is based on transformation and hope. Bringing faith in healing and the hope of happiness to all her fans. The Butterfly is the logo Carol has always drawn, loved and been given by her closest friends (including Berlosconi who produced all her films and her series Thunder In Paradise with Hulk Hogan) at the most meaningful and important times in her life. She now shares this Hopeful, loving and happy creature with those who need something to believe in and a feeling of transformation!
Always thinking of others, Carol spends her spare time (as if there is much) raising money for her late brother Tony Alt’s Memorial Foundation. TAMFI.com gives 100% of its proceeds to worthy children’s charities. The have just been accepted as a 9/11 Charity by the Cantor Fitzgerald BGC’s Charity Day which Carol has worked for the past 4 years.
Not one to sit on her hands, Carol is always moving forward. She likes to be the first in all she does (having been born on the first is probably a reason why/ Her mother said that Carol could not wait to get here! She was due on the 2nd but was her only child who arrived early!)
Carol lives up to that billing! And she will continue to do so!
