Hi Carol,
I just wanted to thank you for your book, "The Raw 50". I'm fairly new to eating my food raw, so I went to the library and took out several raw recipe books, including yours. The others are good, but I can't live without "The Raw 50" so I'm off to the bookstore to purchase it. I love the recipes! The raw Pecan Pie is divine, Sarma's Red Beet Ravioli and Heathy's Raw Lasagna are fantastic! I love that I can try recipes from all the great chef's out there in one book and my friends are enjoying "testing" my results. I even love the Vanilla Avocado Milk (who knew?) I've already made "tons" of the recipes - a must have! Thanks!

Hi barbara,
thanks for your comment!! yeah, but i didn't win! The Donald wanted to see the cowboy against the Brit. it did not matter who was the best--he had his mind set.
anyway, I talk in my books about eating out in restaurants. that is easy-
being home for the holidays well, i also write in my books that the more of a % you eat RAW the better your health. so that said, if you find yourself home for the holidays and you just can't help yourself, then count that as your % of cooked for the week and go back to eating RAW the next day.
RAW is not about destroying your life and your fun. it is about giving you life so you can enjoy the fun!
my health is the most important thing to me. yet sometimes i am in a position where i have to eat and there is nothing RAW around. this is VERY RARE as so many restaurants have RAW and there is always a salad or fruit on the holidays.
and i bring some of my own stuff to the feast. don't be surprised how many people will eat your RAW stuff--so make sure you bring for everybody....RAW milk cheeses are ALWAYS a big hit!
but a mix of raw and cooked at a holiday or when you are stuck some where is fine.
just try not to do it too often or you will not see the benefits of RAW that you should!
hope this helps

Holly,
i know how you feel. when i found RAW and changed my eating habits, so many things changed from that--well, it was like i had a new life.
but, i did have the nay-sayers: don't eat this, don't eat that....
well i think david wolfe said it best, "RAW is about abundance, not deprivation."
that is the singularly most difficult point to get across to first timers who look at RAW as a hindrance to eating pasta and chicken (possibly the two worst things in the world for the body, in my opinion).
ahhhhh, does my heart good to see someone who gets it.
thanks for your email.

Thank you. Thank you for putting some very technical processes into some VERY simple language! I've wanted to go fully raw since 2006, and now that I've read your take, I can do it. I think I'm the same moderate vegetarian as you are, Carol - I was vegan for two years, thin as I could have ever wanted, but still didn't feel exactly right. Adding fish, like seared ahi or sushi, completely changed the deal for me.

The Raw 50 just came in the mail today - woohoo!! - and I'm gearing up the raw kitchen with your recommendations. Most of all I have to say I'm most inspired that one can go raw like you have and still have some animal products - fish particularly but raw cheese as well. NOW we're talking a lifestyle I can live with!!

Way to go, Sister! Thank you for putting this out there for those of us girls who are glamorous at heart - not hippies! lol - yet know that natural is the way to go.
Carol is our RAW POSTER GIRL!

How do you eat when you go out with friends to a restaurant, to their home, holidays, etc?
I "live" on Dr. Perricone's diet: turkey, veggies, salmon, berries, etc. I have read your books, but I'm reluctant to go all "raw."
I'm reading the "50 Secrets of Longest Living People" and have read both Okinawa books about the centarians there.
BTW, you should have won the Apprentice!!

Wow Carol, I really liked your answers. I think one of the biggest misconceptions about Raw Foodists is that we are all fanatical vegans. I personally think the more raw, living food you add to your current diet the better off you will feel and look. This was a great interview that I really enjoyed and I look forward to reading your new book. You are very smart and it is great you are spreading the knowledge of raw food. I wish the best for you!
